Introduction
The 2022 State Gymnastics Championships will be held in Tampa, Florida on January 28-30. This will be the first time that the state championships have been held in Tampa since 2012. The meet will be hosted by the Hillsborough County Gymnastics Association and will be held at the University of South Florida Sun Dome.
This meet is one of the most prestigious gymnastics meets in the state of Florida and is often considered to be a preview of the upcoming season. The meet attracts some of the best gymnasts in the state, as well as out-of-state athletes who are looking to get a head start on their competition season.
The format of the meet has changed slightly from previous years, with each session being split into two divisions: Division I and Division II. Division I will consist of all Level 10 gymnasts, while Division II will include Levels 9-11. This change was made in order to make sure that all gymnasts competing are on an equal playing field.
The competition schedule for this year’s meet has not yet been released, but it is expected to be similar to that of previous years. The first day of competition will begin with preliminary rounds, followed by finals on Days 2 and 3.

History
The first recorded instance of gymnastics was in ancient Greece, where it was used as a method of training for soldiers. Gymnastics then became a popular form of entertainment and was often performed in public exhibitions. The sport began to decline in popularity after the Romans conquered Greece, but it experienced a resurgence during the Renaissance. Gymnastics gained popularity again during the 18th century and has been an Olympic sport since 1896.
Today, gymnastics is one of the most popular sports in the world. It is practiced by people of all ages and abilities and is a key part of many athletes’ training regimen. There are numerous competitions held throughout the year, at both the amateur and professional levels.
Rules
1. All athletes must be currently registered with USA Gymnastics.
2. Athletes must compete in the compulsory and/or optional divisions offered at the meet
3. The age of an athlete as of December 31st of the year in which the meet is held will determine the athlete’s competitive age for that meet
4. An athlete may only compete in one division per day
5. An athlete may not compete more than twice on any one apparatus during a single session
6. In team competition, each team shall consist of no more than six (6) athletes, with three (3) athletes competing on each event during team finals
7. In all-around competition, each gymnast will compete on all four events during both qualifying and final rounds
8. The top eight (8) scores from qualifying round will advance to finals
9 .The top sixteen (16) scores from preliminary round will advance to semifinal round 10 .The top eight(8) scores from semifinal round advance to final
Format
The format for the 2022 State Gymnastics Championships will be as follows:
The meet will take place over two days, with each day consisting of four sessions.
Session 1 – Levels 4-6
Session 2 – Levels 7-10/Open
Session 3 – Xcel Bronze, Silver and Gold
Session 4 – Xcel Platinum and Diamond
Each level will compete in their own session and will be awarded medals based on their placement within that session. The top three all-around scorers from each level will also receive medals. In addition, there will be team trophies awarded to the top three scoring teams in each session.

The Gasparilla Invitational is one of the premier meets in Florida, and it always attracts top-level talent. This year is no different, as we’ve got athletes coming in from all over the state to compete. The competition will be stiff, but it’s sure to be a great meet! Charity Choice:
The Charity Choice Invitational is one of the most prestigious meets in the country. It takes place every year in Tampa, FL, and benefits a different charity each time. This year’s meet will benefit The Salvation Army. We’re expecting a great turnout this year, as many of the top gymnasts in the country have already committed to participating. The results are in for the state gymnastics meet, and we are proud to announce that our team did an amazing job! We placed first in the all-around competition, and our individual results were:

Media Coverage
The 2022 State Gymnastics Championships were held on January 22nd at the Tampa Bay Convention Center. The event was covered by several media outlets, including the Tampa Bay Times and WFLA News Channel 8.
The Times’ coverage focused on the competition itself, with reporters giving detailed accounts of each routine and highlighting key moments from the meet. They also spoke to some of the gymnasts afterwards, getting their thoughts on their performances and what it means to compete at such a high level.
WFLA’s coverage was more light-hearted, with reporters interviewing parents and fans about their experience at the meet. They also took a look at some of the vendors selling merchandise outside the convention center, and spoke to a few people who were there to support their favorite gymnasts.
Overall, it was a successful meet for all involved, and themedia coverage reflected that. Both outlets did a great job of capturing the excitement and energy of the event, and Gymnastics fans will surely be eagerly awaiting next year’s competition.

The 2021 gymnastics season came to a close with the state gymnastics championships. Here are the results:

Allison Maier of Invitational won the all-around title with a score of 37.725. She also won first place on vault (9.725), bars (9.675), and floor (9.675). Second place went to Abby Jones of Tampa Bay who scored 37.475 in the all-around competition. She placed first on beam (9.775) and second on vault (9.625), bars (9.575), and floor (9..525). Rounding out the top three was Katelyn Hill of Charity Choice who finished with an all-around score of 36..900 after placing third on vault (9…600), bars( 9…500), beam( 9…475), and floor( 9…325).
