History of Catholic Charities Bullhead City

Catholic Charities of Bullhead City was established in 1968 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The founding members were Sister Mary Rose Krasowski and Monsignor John J. Kelly. Their mission was to serve the poor and needy in the community, regardless of race or religion.

The first few years were spent providing emergency assistance to families in need, such as food and clothing. In 1970, they opened a thrift store which helped generate income for the organization. A soup kitchen was also started around this time, serving hot meals to anyone who was hungry.

In 1975, Catholic Charities purchased their first property, a house on G Avenue which would become their first homeless shelter. This shelter originally only served men, but women and children were soon added to the program. In 1979, they opened a second shelter for women and children only.

Over the next few decades, Catholic Charities continued to grow and expand their programs and services. They added an employment program, addiction counseling, legal services, and more. They also built two new shelters: one for families and one for single men. Today, they are still working hard to serve those in need in Bullhead City and the surrounding area.
